Numerical investigation of the effect of geometric parameters on discharge coefficients for broad-crested weirs with sloped upstream and downstream faces

Abstract Weirs are structures that important for measuring flow and controlling water levels. Research has shown the discharge coefficient is not constant depends on crest length, height of weir, upstream head, downstream slopes. In this study, effect these parameters ( C d ) investigated by numerical simulation. The current study present simulation using ANSYS FLUENT software. total number simulations 432 which includes: 4 slopes, 3 weir heights, heads h 1 lengths. It was found face slope little . For 0.1 < H / w 0.4 decreasing slope, increases, where head length crest. Also, same range, p ), increases. 0.16 2, as decreases, By comparing results to physical measurements, multi-variable regression equations estimating presented. addition , extraction other more detailed information such level profiles velocity at different locations provided.
